Congratulations to Mike Curtis, high school sports reporter of syracuse.com and The Post-Standard newspaper, who has been selected for the 2020 A. Brohmann Roth Newcomer Award.

The award is presented to promising young journalists who are beginning their careers in print, broadcast or digital media.

Mike earned his bachelor’s degree in communication from Tennessee State University and earned his master’s degree in media and communication from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU).

Before he moved to Syracuse, Mike published his work in FanSidedBleacher Report, The Knoxville News Sentinel and The Grio. He is a member of the Syracuse Press Club, (NABJ) National Association of Black Journalists and AΦΑ.

Mike will be honored at a special ceremony next fall, because the 2020 SPC Awards Banquet was canceled due to COVID-19.
