  • Journalists react to being called ‘the enemy of the American people’
President Donald Trump took his press-bashing to a new level on Friday when he called journalists from The New York Times, ABC, CBS, CNN and NBC "the enemy of the American people." The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People! — […]
  • Here’s The New York Times’ plan for covering the Trump administration
In the early days of the Trump administration, no news organization has been a bigger target than The New York Times. The Gray Lady has been unsparing in its coverage of President Trump and frequently provoked his ire on Twitter. So, does all that abuse affect the paper's coverage? "I think the answer is no," […]
  • New York Times fans sponsored 209,000 student subscriptions in 8 days
Since The New York Times launched a program that allows supporters to sponsor digital student subscriptions last week, the program has already grown large enough to fund 209,000 subscriptions. About the Press Club
press club logo.jpg

The Syracuse Press Club welcomes journalists and communications specialists from throughout the Central New York region.   Our organization is for those who work in print, broadcast, or Internet journalism. The press club is also open to those who work in communications or public relations for corporations, government, or not-for-profit organizations.
We need YOU to get involved and make the press club a more dynamic and relevant organization in this rapidly changing media world.

Each year, the Press Club holds its annual scholarship and professional recognition dinner in May.  This is a chance for everyone to get together for a night out and celebrate the best journalism in Central New York.
The club also honors the members of our profession each year with an induction ceremony for the Wall of Distinction.   The Wall is located on the main floor of the John H. Mulroy Civic Center. It began in 2000 as a place to  enshrine communications professionals whose standards of excellence, pioneering spirit and contributions to the profession serve as an example to others.
The Syracuse Press Club also holds a variety of programs aimed at helping communications professionals better do their jobs.  Past events have included tours of the Onondaga County 911 center,  a  visit from a former Post-Standard reporter now covering Iraq for the LA Times, and a talk from a disaster official in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina.
We are always looking for new members who can help with our current programs or help launch new ones.  Follow the links on this page for information on joining!
