| Post-Standard makes big changes to print edition |
|
Owners of The Post-Standard announced Tuesday that effective January 1st, the paper will publish just three full print editions per week for newsstands and home delivery, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. The company says a smaller version of the paper will be available the rest of the week for sale only in Onondaga County. In an article posted on its website, syracuse.com, a new corporate structure was announced for the company. Syracuse Media Group will publish the paper, operate the website and make all decisions about both platforms. The article says the company will concentrate on providing digital news, information, and advertising 24 hours a day.“We have not been immune to the challenges facing other newspaper companies and we must adapt to the changing media landscape,” said publisher Stephen A. Rogers in a news release. “Our goal is to build a sustainable growth company in an increasingly digital world, ensuring that we have the stability and resources to continue providing quality journalism to the Syracuse community that we have proudly served since 1829. It is incredibly important to me that we do this the right way and that’s why I am helping to lead the creation of this new company.” The article mentioned the new company would be moving from the Post-Standard building, but did not indicate where that would be. A second company, called Advance Central Services Syracuse will remain in the downtown location and provide support, including production, accounting, HR, and other services. No word on what the changes will mean for staffing levels.
