Club Award Winners Announced

The Syracuse Press Club is pleased to announce this years recipients of its Club Awards.  These are award bestowed on individuals for their body of work over a period of time.

The The Gus Bliven-Joe Ganley-Mario Rossi Career Achievement Award will be presented to WSTM-TV/CNYcentral anchor Matt Mulcahy and retired Post-Standard restaurant critic Yolanda Wright.

The Selwyn Kershaw Professional Standards Award will be presented this year to three individuals: Veteran WSYR-TV Newschannel 9 news photographer Ed Jones, and John O'Brien and Rich Sullivan of The Post-Standard.

Each year we also present an award to a young up and coming journalist. This year we will honor WCNY producer Megan Hislop.

We also recognize an individual who's often in the news, and who's efforts provide access, answers, and expertise. This year we are honoring North Syracuse Central School District Superintendent Dr. Jerry Melvin.

We will have more about hour honorees on this web site in the near future.

All will receive their awards at our annual Scholarship and Professional Recognition dinner on May 7th at Drumlins.

Timothy Bunn

The Post-Standard

Timothy Bunn, a native Syracusan, recently retired in February 2007 from The Post-Standard after a 33-year newspaper career. Twenty-six of those years were spent working in Syracuse, for the evening Herald-Journal, Sunday Herald American and The Post-Standard.
