WRVO's Belcher Heading to NYC
Monday, 05 July 2010 22:37

WRVO's Jasmyn Belcher has departed the Oswego NPR station for New York City.  Belcher joined WRVO while still a stuent at SUNY Oswego. She began working there full time in 2007.   She was a winner of the Press Club's Newcomer award in 2008, and during the past few years as dominated the radio category at the Syracuse Press Club Awards.

Belcher will be working as an associate producer for StoryCorps, which she tells us is a large oral history project in New York City. She will be producing segments that air nationally on NPR's Morning Edition.  Jasmyn tells us " It's truly a perfect fit for me and I couldn't be more excited. Although, I'll miss everyone at WRVO so much."  We wish Jasmyn well in her new gig and know she will soon be earning some national recognition.

"Woe to that nation whose literature is cut short by the intrusion of force. This is not merely interference with freedom of the press but the sealing up of a nation’s heart, the excision of its memory."
--Alexander Solzhenitsyn
