Toni Guidice honored with Professional Standards award
Toni Guidice worked for The Post-Standard for 23 years, spending most of that time making others look good.

She was the leader of the crew of copy editors who worked every night after the reporters went home, catching errors in their stories before any readers saw them, writing snappy headlines and creating the pages that landed on the doorsteps.

It’s a job that comes without bylines or glamour.

Photographer John Berry recognized with Professional Standards award
John Berry is a bulldog photographer who had a 33-year career at The Post-Standard.

He approached his job with a determined, no-nonsense attitude. He was willing to go nose-to-nose with anyone who stood between him and a good breaking news image. But in the photos he shot, you could feel the empathy he felt for the subjects.

During his career, the newspaper nominated John twice for the Pulitzer Prize award.

CNYCentral's Tom Eschen honored with Newcomer award
Tom Eschen has been a multi-media journalist at CNY Central since February of 2012, reporting on news and sports, while also anchoring sports in studio.

Tom graduated from Ithaca College’s Park School of Communications in 2011. While at Ithaca, he received a degree in Journalism and played varsity football for four years.

“This is my valentine to Brenda Marie McCabe Haggart. Unfortunately, this valentine will not look or taste as good as those hearts that grade school teachers in Kansas helped me cut out and paste on big pieces of red paper. I can still taste the paste. It tasted almost as good as a peanut-butter sandwich. Writing this public confession of joy may seem a little arrogant on my part, Brenda, since I didn't ask you if I could do it. But you owe me one. My voice is gone.”
