Former TV5 Weekend Sports Anchor Lands in Florida |

Former CBS 5 sports guy Rishi Baron was hired for a sports anchor/reporter position at the ABC/NBC affiliate in Fort Myer's, Florida. Rishi one of the estimated 40 WTVH employees who lost their jobs in April when WSTM-TV took over the CBS 5 news operation. Rishi has been working part-time at WHP 21 in Harrisburg, PA. we wish Rishi luck in his new job. |

Sandler Moves From WKTV to News 10 |
|
WKTV, Utica weekend sports anchor Brian Sandler has left the station for a position at News 10 Now in Syracuse. Sandler, a 2004 graduate of Syracuse University had anchored WKTV's weekend sportscasts and was part of the station's Sports Express program.

Word today that the Eagle Newspapers have been sold. However, it appears the ownership team plans to keep publishing Eagle's eight weekly papers. Here is a link to the article from The Post-Standard on the news. |

Tully Free Speech Award Nominees Named |
|
Syracu se University's Newhouse School has announced the nominees for its 2009 Tully Free Speech Awards. Here is the release from S.U. Nominees include: David Ashenfelter, reporter with the Detroit Free Press. Ashenfelter refused to name government sources for an article he wrote in 2004 revealing that a federal prosecutor was under investigation for suspected misconduct. He cited his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination and First Amendment right to protect his sources, but still faces possible jail time for his actions.
