Carey Reports From Lockerbie on 20th Anniversary

Sunday marks the 20th anniversary of the terrorist bombing that destroyed Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland.  Thirty-five students in Syracuse University's study abroad program were aboard the flight, along with a Town of Clay couple.  News 10 Now's Bill Carey is just back from Lockerbie, and aired a series of reports on the Time Warner all news channel this week.  News 10 Now will also air a documentary Bill is writing.

Kennedy Draws National Media Attention

Caroline Kennedy's interest in the U.S. Senate seat being vacated  by Hillary Clinton brought national media attention to Syracuse this week. Kennedy traveled upstate to meet with officials in several communities, as she lobby's Governor David Paterson for the appointment.  Kennedy's first stop was Syracuse, where she met with Mayor Matt Driscoll.  Kennedy was hit with some aggeessivie questioning about her qualifications to be senator. Here's what NBC Nightly News had to say.  There was also a great picture in the New York Times in Syracuse City Hall.

Fulkerson Named WSTM News Director

Rae Fulkerson lost the "acting" portion of her title Friday, and became the News Director of WSTM-TV/NBC 3.  Fulkerson joined the station in 2004 as Assistant News Director and replaces Peggy Philip who left for a job in Baltimore earlier this year.

New spokesperson for Wegmans

Wegmans named a new person to the role of consumer affairs  manager for its Syracuse division stores.  Evelyn Carter takes over the position held for years by Press Club "Best News Source" winner Ann Hyatt who retired recently.  Here is the release from Wegmans for more about Ms. Carter.

Awards Timeline Set

Deadline for submitting awards in the annual Syracuse Press Club competition is January 31st, 2009.  At its meeting on Tuesday, the Board of Directors of the Syracuse Press Club also set March 15th as the date judges should have their final tallies back to the club, so we can begin notifying winners in plenty of time for the annual Awards and Scholarship Banquet.  This years celebration of the best work in Central New York Journalism will be on May 9th, at the Convention Center at OnCenter.
