Tuesday, 09 December 2008 02:40

Some changes in media in Oswego County to tell you about. Our friends at Syracuse.com are reporting that WRVO-FM's John Hurlbutt will retire this month after 40 years. Hurlbutt is the local host of NPR's "Morning Edition". No sucessor has been named. Here is a link to the Syracuse.com article.

Also in Oswego, the Palladium-Times reports that it has a new publisher. John Spaulding takes over the day to day operations at the Palladium Times.  He succeeds Paul Scott who retired.  Spaulding returns to the paper where he worked in the mid ninties, after working the past eleven years at Gannett's Star-Gazette in Elimira.  Here is a link to the Pall-Times article.

Written by Lou Gulino
Friday, 05 December 2008 22:07
Two former Central New York television journalists made it on a list put together by TV Week of news talent that represents the industry's future.  Jeff Glor who worked at WSTM-TV, and David Muir, who worked at WTVH-TV made a list of fifteen young TV journalists that the publication believes are the next generation of TV news stars.

Glor worked at WSTM-TV from 1997 to 2003.   Muir, who is a native of Central New York, began hanging around WTVH when he was about 13 or 14 years old, and interned every summer while s student at Ithaca College.  Here is the TV Week article.
