The Auburn Citizen has new publisher, and several behind-the-scenes people in local TV change jobs.
On Monday, Cayuga Media, which publishes The Citizen in Auburn and auburnpub.com announced that publisher Mike Rifanburg has let his position, and will be replaced by former publisher Rick Emanuel. Emanuel left the paper for years ago to run the company's Post-Star in Glens Falls. Owner Lee Enterprises says Emanuel will oversee both publications while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement. |

Awards presented for best CNY journalism of 2012 |
|
The Syracuse Press Club honored the best journalism of 2012 at an awards ceremony Saturday night at Drumlins Country Club, in Syracuse. The club's 35th annual Scholarship and Professional Recognition Awards dinner honored exceptional work in local print, broadcast and online.
Among the highlights of the evening, broadcasters WCNY-TV, YNN, CNYCentral and Newschannel 9 shared a first place award in the Special Television Program category for their jointly produced special Protecting Our Children. It was a project aimed at the problem of physical and sexual abuse of children.

Toni Guidice honored with Professional Standards award |

Photographer John Berry recognized with Professional Standards award |
John Berry is a bulldog photographer who had a 33-year career at The Post-Standard. He approached his job with a determined, no-nonsense attitude. He was willing to go nose-to-nose with anyone who stood between him and a good breaking news image. But in the photos he shot, you could feel the empathy he felt for the subjects. During his career, the newspaper nominated John twice for the Pulitzer Prize award. |

CNYCentral's Tom Eschen honored with Newcomer award |
Tom Eschen has been a multi-media journalist at CNY Central since February of 2012, reporting on news and sports, while also anchoring sports in studio. Tom graduated from Ithaca College’s Park School of Communications in 2011. While at Ithaca, he received a degree in Journalism and played varsity football for four years. |
